Local WiFi meeting places?
I’m looking for local Wi-Fi establishments in the Tampa Bay area (specifically Tampa, St. Pete or Clearwater). Mind you, when I ask, I do not mean franchise establishments such as McDonalds, Starbucks or the UPS Store… I mean restaurants, Café’s, bas, etc.
There is one place I know of for sure, and it is a good place at that — but well away from the population center of the Bay area.
There is a method to my madness, so I encourage anyone who comes across this post (on Tampa Blab or one of my friends browsing my site) to give input through comments. Everything shall be revealed soon enough….
Comments and the look
Comments are screwed up and you cannot view / post comments. I am trying to figure out why and have no clue how long this has been going on.
The situation is the same for all themes tried…
What good is ranting if no one hears?
Feeling sickly right now – have been for a few days. I think it’s allergies. I HOPE it’s just allergies….
At any rate, I vented about Ferry travel the other day — not just on der Stonegauge but through Bayciti.net’s comments — and suffice it to say I think that he idea is sound. And I expect no one in government to even think about the idea.
….so Im taking the idea to government.
I’ve printed out copies of a letter to the Clearwater City Council and the Mayor just to send out feelers over the idea of Ferry transit between Clearwater and Clearwater Beach. I plan on ammending the letter and then printing out copies and sending it along to HARTLine, PSTA, The Hillsborough and Pinellas MPO’s, and other government officials…. ALl because I’m tired of having ideas and having them sitting in my head or in a blog….
To be continued.
Comment Problems once again
Damn Spam Karma — it is treating some comments as if they were spam. I apologize to anyone who has commented and it hasn’t gone through.
Problems solved — comment away
Permalinks are working. Comments are working. The only “Bug” is that I have to approve comments before they get published (even if I remove that setting from the Admin control panel) so your comments likely will not show up right away.
Humor Me — Buccaneer Web log
Anyone interested in working with me on a Buccaneer Web Log?
Yes, the Bucs suck right now… Yes Bruce Allen is a moron… Yes Jon Gruden needs more humillity… That doesn’t mean to say we shouldn’t support Los Buccaneeros on the web — even in criticism.
And for those who are unsure why I bring up the idea of a Buccaneer web log…. Seeing I already own and operate Boltsmag, I figure a Bucs blog wouldn’t be a bad addition…
Just post comments if you’re interested… we’ll talk.
Comments
A lot of people might be noticing and wondering why most of the comment sections aren’t open on some of my posts on here lately. The reason isn’t because I don’t want to hear from people — though I have to be honest, you kids bragging about High School Football is something I can live without. It’s because of SPAM. Lots of spam. Spam spam spam spam spam eggs and spam… Without the comments, there is less of an opportunity for spammers to spam.
Yes, those who are on MT will tell me to use the MT blacklist… I already have it in place. Still, I’d like another anti-spam buffer I guess. Either I stick with this or perchance I convert to WordPress and fight spam through that. Oh well.
Losers with nothing better to do….
How pathetic?
A little troll with the IP address 168.213.1.133 posts about 1000 times under an entry in this blog to tell me I’m “Gay” and that my “mama is gay”.
To whoever has this intelligence deficit — thanks for your comments and showing how pathetic both you and your high school are…. I mean, you posted 30 times in about 5 minutes? Boy you must be bored. You also must be pretty insecure or pathetic (how about both) if you have to post stupid shit to try to slander another high school…
Just wondering, did you even attempt to read the post you were replying to? Or were you just responding to the title because you couldn’t understand the big words I used? :rolleyes
Silence Abounds and Immoral Grounds
You know I woke up this morning with the day in front of me — actually slightly behind me. My gut had been doing the rumba last night and had kept me up, keeping me sleep deprieved and groggy most of the day.
So I came online around 10 AM to find an email from Mike Emmons – which got me excited because I’m in the mood to work on a campaign and try to help out from the grass roots side at the very top of the organization.
Well, my excitement didn’t last long when I found that the person who had steered me to Mike Emmons had shared my own private conversation about Mike’s site with Mike without my permission. Mike had responded to some comments I made but I didn’t care to read them over. Why? Because of the ethical breach of sending someone’s email to someone else with regards to business.
If I wanted to talk to Mike Emmons about certain things – me and Mike could discuss them together in the future. That’s between me and Mike Emmons, not a third party who introduced me to Mike Emmons.
So, as the day went on, I got to go to the Hospital again to have stitches removed from my back. My doctor is almost shocked at how well I am doing and damnit – I am too. Still a LONG way to go when it comes to recovery and rehab but, as someone who was supposed to be left paraplegic by my last operation, I am no more paraplegic than a member of a dance troop.
Of course, not everything went hunky dory with the doctor appointment and my problems with it isn’t because of the doctor or having to wait an obsessively long time to get my stitches removed. It was dear old Dad once again who decided to piss me off. Not because he did something – it was because what he didn’t do.
We left around 1:30 and got back sometime after 5 and between those hours, my father barely said anything to me, and wouldn’t answer my questions with much more than a shrug or a gesture. I didn’t enjoy the car ride (though I kept picking up songs on the radio, which never happens with me) nor the hospital stay all thanks to the fact Dad wanted to play alpha-male who just grunted.
I’m a conversationalist, folks. I like to talk – I like to discss things and there are plenty of things in the world to discuss – just why the hell my Father likes to act like an oaf is beyond me. I really get sick of the fact he seems so dis-passionate about everything and anything. There are plenty of journal entries in the past where I have complained about him… I can’t point to them now but it’s worth repeating again that he is so indolent it isn’t even funny.
Letters make up words
Dean’s outreach
Letters to the Editor
Published November 16, 2003Re: Howard Dean and the Confederate flag.
The Nov. 13 letter writers who were critical of Howard Dean and his Confederate flag comments are missing the point of the statement that Dean made. He was not blessing bigotry, nor was he showcasing a need to push for racial insensitivity.
Gov. Dean is looking to bring back the Southern voter who traditionally votes Republican. The Confederate flag comment was a poor way to describe whom he is trying to reach, but it was painfully obvious that poor white Southerners were his targeted group. Maybe that can be looked at as a stereotype (that all Southerners drive pickups and have the Confederate flag somewhere), but how often do you see the stereotype that a Southern citizen has to vote Republican
?
The issue isn’t about bigotry or racism with Dean’s comments. It is about trying to reach out to a voting segment and show that he isn’t turning a blind eye toward them, as Republicans have traditionally done once elected.— John Fontana, Palm Harbor
Oooh, oooh! Look! I’m famoous! :smile
Queer guys and the web cam eye
During the past few weeks / months I’ve been on Camarades / ww.com again with my streaming web cam… Personally I can’t view other’s cams for some reason but everyone can view mine. I take this as a way to meet new people to talk to… Or not…
You see, I’ve gotten three distinct types of reactions to having my web cam on and I take offense to all three in one way or another.
The first reaction comes from the homosexual community. No offense to any gays out there — I’m not trying to dis some of you or anything, but asking “Are you gay?” to a guy who has “I AM NOT GAY” on his camera web page just makes you look dim — along with other things. I mean, I am starting to truly understand how much women online get pissed off when guys come onto them to start a conversation. Between the gay comments and guys asking me how often I give myself self-pleasure or something to that extent, it just… eh… UGH…
I got no problem with holding a human conversation with a gay guy, but talking about my sex life… that’s a no no.
The second reaction I get is from the fakers. Who are these? They tend to be either guys posing as girls or girls who aren’t very self confident so they attempt to cover up with pictures of models as who they are. Some go so far as getting a bunch of porn pictures and pushing that as who they are. “Who took these pictures?” “Oh, my sister, she’s crazy.”
Right, you’re going to let your sister take pictures of you taking of your top and rubbing your tits… I believe that :rolleyes
The third distinct type of reaction I get on here — I haven’t gotten very often lately. I’ve gotten it in the past but not so much in the present (thankfully). This is the “Simon says” reaction where everyone requests you do something for them. Them specifically. “Can you take your glasses off.” “Wave at the camera” “Is this real time? Can you stand up and sit down so I can see if this is really happening now?” “Lemme see your penis!”
:rolleyes
Folks, when I have that cam on there is one reason I have it on and one reason alone – for me. If I have friends viewing that camera – then I am joking around on it. I’d like to meet people and talk to them, but I’m not getting into X-Rated discussion with Joe from Denmark who’s waiting for Bob to come over so they can practice there new game, Sodomy by Monitor light. I’m not going to talk about how many times me and Rosie Red Palm date with Susan who is watching 6 kids and eating Oreos as she types. I do have those types of discussions but with people I know and am close to. Not with Joe or Jane Schmoe who I have just met off a camera web site, or someone i have talked to for only a few minutes / hours / days.
Looking in all the wrong places
Someone from HS pops up on the web and you can’t get their email… unless you pay
Actually you can if you search hard enough. I guess I haven’t because I just can’t find the damn thing wherever I look….
In other news, you can review the comments on the test I gave if you want to know results or just want to comment on the damn thing….
Not much else to report- unproductive week and my legs aren’t doing well at all. I really need to stop pussyfooting around with things and get my ass in gear with something or other to mend my situation.
Propaganda and my take
Heh
Not one of my better comments, but I still find them amusing. This stems from a post on Howard Dean’s web log about a propaganda journal that Herr Bush is using on his re-election campaign. Scroll up to see that post.
"You stirred up a hornet's nest now!
Right, Left… yeah, you know me with politics: Interested. Well, I also tend to shoot my mouth off.
I wrote a little article over on Kill The Web that was pushed off the main page months ago. It’s on the subject of Anne Clouter and just cracking a joke about the woman….
You know, Stonegauge gets a couple of visitors a day – I’m lucky if anyone comments (the more you comment, the more discussion you encourage)… Well, I can now say that the longest discussion I have created was talking about how Ann inspires men to use Viagra — because she leaves them with no sexual impulses with the attitude she generates.
15 replies and counting. Still going 3 months after I wrote it — fun stuff.
Doing something shocking for another
Have you ever come across someone you can reach but can’t and yet want to do something to show them that you have interest, or are committed to them… Or maybe you’ve heard of someone who took an extra step on there own terms to reach the one they care about? Something that surprised or awed their spouse.
I was thinking back to a friend I had on ICQ a few years ago — a girl named Jayne — telling me about her boyfriend. Now, Jayne was deaf and had been that way for a long time… It would seem that not only did her boyfriend have interest in her but he went out of his way in order to make contact with her: He learned sign language specifically so he could just talk to her. I don’t mean he was already in with the girl – I mean he did it just to start talking.
And from what I recall, the two of them ended up married.
That’s just an example of doing something major for someone else. Of course, everyone is going to react differently to different things and that means there is no RIGHT answer to doing something like this… But is there anything that someone has done for you that has shown them going out of there way to do it? Or what would you do to go out of your way for someone else, just to show them you are keenly interested in them?
OK, this is one of those entries where I would like to hear the readers thoughts and comments on this… that’s what the little “COMMENT” link is for :tongue
Re-Arrange
And now my site has changed in oh-so-many ways
The “Home” extension seemed to vanished in the haze
Damnit, i kept trying to finish that verse/parody from Help! and it just didn’t quite happen.
The site’s URL is now www.stonegauge.com — sans the home. I’m still working on making sure all the links are A-OK. Please feel free to leave a comment int he comments box to tell me if something is phuckered.
And by the way — MAKE SURE YOU ARE SAFE AND SOUND AGAINST THE LATEST WORM THAT IS SPREADING ON THE NET (if you are on Windows NT, 2000 or XP)
'Blog'gered
OK, so I did it. I think I did it anyway. I had been screwing around with a design that incorporated Moveable Type on the site like what Kill the Web has, or much like what Howard Dean is using on Blog for America.
What’s the benefits of this anyway?
Well, you can just clicky on the comment link and have your comments for each individual journal entry logged instead of through a guestbook as i have been doing (the guestbook shall survive the transition). You can also click on TRACKBACK (which contains some stuff you may or may not understand) and find a link directly to one of my journal entries for personal reference… You COULD bookmark old entries but then again – their location and URL kept changing and it wasn’t a very effecient design at all. Poo on that!
SO will this catch on? I know not. I may be right back to the HTML version of entries soon enough so don’t fret if you don’t like the layout of this. AND there is this little thing where I may have the last 5 entries displayed at one time or another. You guys can comment and let me know if I should continue that habit or not.
Happy New Gears
I’m in the middle of testing some new stuff that I normally would only do on a testing blog… But I would like to implment these things on several sites, so… Stonegauge may be a guinea pig for a while.
