Lucky Hat
I bought a hate in early 2004 — before I officially launched Boltsmag, before the Lightning had cemented the fact they were on a run to immortality and the Stanley Cup. A tan hat by Nike with the Lightning emblem on it, a velcro fastener in back with “LIGHTNING” embroidered on it and the Nike logo sown into the bill.
It’s a little small, I almost think it’s a woman’s cap… Never the less, I wore that thing from January until I attended game seven of the Stanley Cup Playoffs and saw the team hoist Lord Stanley chalice. This is my good luck cap for the Lightning… Or it was at least… or is it still?
Back in March 2005 I was dating Jenna and went with her to Target to pick out another hatt. After all, my Lightning cap was soiled terribly and really bothersome due to it’s size. I picked out an Orange County Chopper’s hat and wore that from March until just a few days ago…. On rare occasions — like opening night – I wore the Lightning hat. The Lightning won on opening night but have been lackluster for most of the season.
So when Madeline chewed up my O.C.C. hat, I threw a shit fit and went out shopping for a new hat. I couldn’t find something I wanted at Target and couldn’t get down to the Mall to buy a new sports orientated hat… I sulked… I was wearing my smallish Lightning cap at the time… I’m still wearing the cap on a daily basis now…
…And the Lightning are winning again…?
They’ve looked like a different team in the last several days… I disregarded their victory over Los Angeles, was a bit surprised when they beat up Marty Turco and Dallas… Tonight’s game versus the Thrashers makes me wonder mightily about the powers of this ballcap… I know it’s not a can’t-lose cap, but there’s something to it. I’m sure of it.
Featured!
I’m officially the father of “the definitive online source for local hockey news.” So Sayeth the St. Petersburg Times in their online blog list which puts the spotlight on Boltsmag this week.
I almost expected this featured status last week, with the opening of the Hockey season on Wednesday but it was for naught — damn you TampaBlab! 😛 🙂 ) — suffice it to say, I am fine with having the featured status this week instead…
…Well, except for the fact I am going out of town and my focus is not on hockey this week. 🙁 Oh well, I’ll live… And so shall Boltsmag!
Where are you, oh glorious Gabe and Tycho?!
Where the Hell is Penny Arcade?? They’ve been down for more than a day now… 🙁 I need my PA fix…
EDIT: Brett in comments has the facts here…. It’s an internet backbone issue for Road Runner users such as myself. If you have access to a third-party access point (say, AOL) you can indeed access Penny Arcade just fine…
"The Definitive Lightning Fan blog"
Tampa Bay Times (tbt* ) calls Boltsmag the definitive Lightning Fan blog and all I can say is cool! Now if only I wrote something worth a damn on there… :-p 😉
Web good deed…sorta
Witht he disaster in New Orleans – I’ve donated money through the Red Cross in hopes that I might help out even a little bit…
Yet I felt sorta lost with it… There are tons of bloggers out there and there is no uniting symbol with regards to the need for donations and support towards the disaster down south…
So I created an image and posted it on Boltsmag, I also sent it to several hockey bloggers in an attempt to start something and of course show unity.
It’s working so far as I’ve gotten Eric McErlain of Off Wing Opinion and Lyle Richardson of Spectors Hockey involved with this. Eric is guiding people to the image for their own posting…
And the image in question?
Of course, linking to an image does little. They’re also guiding those who click ont eh image to Redcross.org where you can donate to the disaster relief.
If YOU would like to post this image somewhere on your blog or web site, here’s the code…
< a href ="http://www.redcross.org" target="_blank">< img src="https://photos.stonegauge.com/albums/userpics/10001/NODonate.jpg"/>
Just change the link to the redcross to whatever you want if you have another charity in mind.
Also remember to remove the spaces before < a href> and < img>
In The Neighborhood
Taking my buddy Tommy’s cue, I decided to sign up Boltsmag onto the Blog Feed map:
It’s sorta cool to see other blogs around me but at the same time — some of those blogs are troubling.
Upgrade and Work
I’m doing big time late-summer-cleaning on Der Stonegauge and that means upgrading software, deleting old files, etc… And seeing I have had der Stonegauge in several variations since 1998 (and this domain since 2002) there is a lot of cleaning to be done….
The site theme is being changed around and I plan on changing the Favicon as well, hopefully soon but you never know…
Revamping Boltsmag
I’m not a real CSS junkie but I am getting better understanding of it now… And that is reflected in part by some changes I am developing for Boltsmag… I’ve created a site specifically for CSS Development (I will likely use it for this site sometime) where I have been tinkering away. I’m not quite done yet but hopefully soon.
Edit: WOW, with how well the new site has transfered and how comfortable I am getting with the CSS, I am goign to have to work on revamping Der Stonegauge now…. It’s high time I fixed this shit up….
Spamalot
I wonder if anyone in their right mind would click on this link?
I wonder if any Beatles fan would buy anything form this one?
Hmm, I wonder….
POF – POS
Plenty of Fish = a Piece of Shit. Like all online dating sites – it’s great if you are a girl because there are a ton of guys on there. But if you are a guy? Ha… Girls have so many guys to sort through that they don’t really give a damn about trying to talk to someone.
Hitting a new low for the D-Rays
I’m laughing my ass off over something I disovered while talking to my buddy Keith….
I wrote a post over at Boltsmag a few months ago calling the Devil Rays the worst pro sports team around. If you do a search on Google for “Worst professional sports franchise” and click on “I’m feeling lucky” — my post comes up as the result.
I don’t know if I should rejoice or feel shame. The Rays suck… And as a TB resident, I’ve helped let the world know the Rays suck. So much as for civic pride.
Fontana MD
So I’m sitting down, watching the opening minutes of House last night on FOX and end up going hysterical over the fact that House drugged his former lovers husband and called the paramedics before he even arrived… It just seemed so funny and prick-ish and just perfect for Greg House (Hugh Laurie, who hath erased the mockery of his abilities that was his role in the Stuart Little movies were).
My older brother walks in on me to see why I am laughing so hard, and once i explained to him his face lit up a bit and he started relating to me how he loves the show… and so do his friends who call him House when they see him….
Mike’s always been weird in one way or another and I started thinking about the comparison between him and Greg House. House is distant, he’s bitingly sarcastic, shrewd, genius, cold… Mike is… Well, Mike is all of those things, except he’ll smile more often than House, he’ll joke more often than House (for the good of humor, not out of sarcastic desire).
Mike IS Greg House.
I’ve known women who’ve wanted to grab the mystery for themselves with Mike. You can’t quite imagine women wanting House but the mystery about him is there…. Helping to drive Dr. Cameron unsuccessfully towards him.
It’s odd, first my brother happens to look like David Duchovney… Now he happens to be like Greg House. What’s next? He starts making as much money as (insert movie star here)?
Humor me
In your humble opinion, what do YOU think a Stonegauge is….? Or what do you think of when you hear the word?
Oh yeah, and answering “You” doesn’t count :-p
Under Construction
Well, until I figure out how to get this page to look like it should – and right now it looks like shit because I’m still trying to figure out what I want Der Stongauge to look like – consider the site under construction. I apologize if the look of the page makes you want to barf. 🙁
OK, I'll try to give this another shot
OK so I pissed off Melanie because I shut down der Stonegauge seemingly….
I also got a stern talking to from my comrade-in-blogs Tommy….
So maybe I will keep on typing? I mean, what’s the worst that can happen? I bore you? Of course I bore you – you’re on the Internet and that means you are already bored for crissakes… If I was an excuse for you not to be bored, i got news for you….
😉
I’m going to go one post at a time for a while and see how it goes… Maybe I will go back to the multi-bullshti posting in a bit… THat is if I can get the spark behind the Stonegauge once again.
Totally lost
Right now I am down. I’m down about several things but lets go with first things first, secodn thing ssecond and all that jazz…
I’m taking a break from the Stonegauge for I don’t know how long or even if The Stonegauge will be back up in the future. I’m just goign to stop with the site because…. Well, lets be frank and honest – you could care. By you I mean by everyone who is out there.
I know that really sounds pessamistic but that’s how it feels right now. I’m not writing much on here lately for oen reason or another and what I do write is too self-absorbed to really have any worth. I know I write something that not only gians people’s attention but also interests readers over at Boltsmag. I can’t say the same here at Stonegauge.
Who cares about my opinions? I express them on forums and in the Newspaper and they haven’t brought out change. I’ve shared my writing and my day to day dealings and it’s not as if many are reading this right now.
I’ll probably end up posting shit elsewhere just because it’ll be more private or because it’s not a target for spam (or hasn’t turned to shit because WordPress 1.5 sucks).
Bah 🙁 I’m down.
Well, how does it look?
How does the new header look? I hate the new version of WordPress…. It seems to make it tougher to do designs…. Oh well 🙁
I just HAVE to blog this
Boltsmag comes up #1 on MSN for the search term “ladies that clean your home in Montreal”
And here I thought that my sites only catered to a small, niche user base…. 😆
OK, I'll bite… Which Beatles are YOU?
Bah these online quizes….
humbug — you just got to take cartain ones:
What Beatle are you? John Lennon
You enjoy poetry, painting & a fine wine. A lover not a fighter.

Those pesky 404's
Due to spam problems and people not being directed to the Stonegauge’s active setup, I did something I really shouldn’t have and deleted every MT file I had in the Archives…
That being said, if you are looking for something on the web and got a error message on my site, type it in on the left-hand Search menu and look there. It might just come up.
Where's John?
What is this? A yearly rite?
Last year I had an excuse for being AFB (Away From Blog) as I was feeling like shit and recovering from surgery. This year? Computer hardware problems and a slow delievery of replacement parts.
So, not only do I lack updates at Der Stonegauge but also on der Boltsmag, der Baseball Boards, Chantilly Lace Gifts and the like. It’s a real pain in the ass because I need to do work and I can’t ACCESS my work. All of that information is locked away quaintly on my hard drive while other hardware makes my computer un-usable.
Damn you, IBM-Compatible PC’s!!!
Happy Holidays, anyway. I have been keeping busy by walking here and there, doing housework, and more which I can talk about later in entries on the blog.
The more times change, the more they stay the same…
&You know I used to work on the Internet for a Dot-Com pre dot-bomb (I would link to my former employer but alas — the Wayback Machine doesn’t have a good copy of the site in their history) and I used to hate sitting around and waiting on people to respond to email, waiting for search engines to index pages I make, or try to stay busy finding ways to beat the system.
Certain sites are reminding me of how I hate waiting. How I loath not being able to jump in and do the job when I learn how to do it….
Web design work
Chantilly Lace has a pretty face
A pony tale, hanging down
But her hosting company stole the wiggle in her walk
nickle and dimed her out of the wiggle in her talk
and made a horrid sound, sound, sound, sound….
So John to the rescue — or I’m going to try to save her.

Problems solved — comment away
Permalinks are working. Comments are working. The only “Bug” is that I have to approve comments before they get published (even if I remove that setting from the Admin control panel) so your comments likely will not show up right away.
Links and such
Trying to comment? Trying to access a Permalink? Right now it’s 404. I’m working on it.
Web projects
Well, people already saw on my last post I am thinking about doing a Buccaneers Web Log… That being said, Stonegauge Productions may have a new client soon enough.
Danielle’s boss is in desperate need to not only get a lower-costing hosting company but also improve (visibility, sales, etc ) her store’s web site – Chantilly Lace Gifts… It’s an E-Commerce site that isn’t doing any commerce (no sales in a year of existence). It doesn’t get any exposure and damn it, it doesn’t even give you a glipse of the store itself.
Nice design pre-designed site but a challenge from top to bottom.
Humor Me — Buccaneer Web log
Anyone interested in working with me on a Buccaneer Web Log?
Yes, the Bucs suck right now… Yes Bruce Allen is a moron… Yes Jon Gruden needs more humillity… That doesn’t mean to say we shouldn’t support Los Buccaneeros on the web — even in criticism.
And for those who are unsure why I bring up the idea of a Buccaneer web log…. Seeing I already own and operate Boltsmag, I figure a Bucs blog wouldn’t be a bad addition…
Just post comments if you’re interested… we’ll talk.
Comments
A lot of people might be noticing and wondering why most of the comment sections aren’t open on some of my posts on here lately. The reason isn’t because I don’t want to hear from people — though I have to be honest, you kids bragging about High School Football is something I can live without. It’s because of SPAM. Lots of spam. Spam spam spam spam spam eggs and spam… Without the comments, there is less of an opportunity for spammers to spam.
Yes, those who are on MT will tell me to use the MT blacklist… I already have it in place. Still, I’d like another anti-spam buffer I guess. Either I stick with this or perchance I convert to WordPress and fight spam through that. Oh well.

Try Try Again
Toe is at it again.
The great sage and creative webmaster, known for such web sites as GWBush04.com, RedTideNews.com and the now defunct KilltheWeb.com satire sites, has a new political blog up and running…
For all of you who couldn’t guess where Toe falls on the political map, just check the site name and take a guess: The Blue Donkey…
Trying to stay busy
It’s tough trying to keep myself busy these days – I’m failing mor often than I’m not.
I did alittle housekeeping on Boltsmag — nothing to write home about. I’ve been pinning about bbb.net and starting to think it was a mistake – that the market is indeed over-saturated and there are too many who are loyal to one forum and not willing to think about how loyal that forum is to them.
Between that and still chronically playing Vice City, I haven’t been up to much. There’s not much more absurdity I can take from the government before I become an apathetic citizen like so many Americans.
Note to Kristen Dunst
I think Gabe sums it up pretty well in this strip… Just why don’t superheroes die?
Come again? Cam again
Added the Web Cam feature once again to Der Stonegauge. I can’t do direct connections so I haven’t used Camarades in a while and can’t unless I get a special webcam which I don’t plan on…
Still images refresh every thirty seconds when I have this thing running, but nothing interesting should be happening with the picture.

Transition Game
While I am a bit distracted with things going on in my life, though it’s not like I don’t have time to blog. I’m still trying to figure out just where and what I am going to take the Stonegauge to with regards to blogging…
Keep ranting about personal stuff? Take it more pop culture with entertainment things that I can’t always speak for when it’s current? (My Adaptation review was an old post, I comment on old songs, previously released movies, published books, etc) Political rants which are done better on other blogs and are the norm on the blogshere, and certain people I’ve met with Boltsmag talk about local issues pretty well….
Then we have the fact I do talk about sports here and there — Boltsmag is a success just because I really timed this shit well :smile. There’s writing stories I could give but those are about failure. Medical stories I could tell but those seem irrelevant…
This is the personal homepage of John Fontana but then again? I want the Stonegauge to be a place to stop by and have something worth looking into, commenting on or discussing. Not the garbage I’ve had lately. My April entry spurt was brought on by a certain someone who does a real good job of showing up when she needs a crutch, but avoids really well when things don’t fit her current schedule, which includes friendship..
I want to give “a better ‘Gauge on things” but damnit – I want it to be relevant in some way shape or form. It isn’t at this rate.
Comment Problems once again
Damn Spam Karma — it is treating some comments as if they were spam. I apologize to anyone who has commented and it hasn’t gone through.
