The death of a Green by the hands of the Greens
I just wrote a piece about something that happened to me over at KilltheWeb.com. Either click on the link provided or read the extended entry.
There was an article I posted yesterday on Kill the Web along with Deanfilter.com from Alternet which spoke of support from the far left for Howard Dean:

This article shook me to the core because of my agreements with it and how it seemed to understand the arguments I had been hearing from Greens over and over again.
Now, I am a registered Green but I will be changing that to Democrat or Independent once again after the reaction this article got after I posted it on the local Green Party mailing list on Yahoo groups…
I was termed a “rubber spined….coward” by a member of the group — who actually thought Dennis the K, Carol Mosely Braun and Al Sharpton should be supported and had a chance in this election, or a Green candidate for that matter — because I was compromising the Green Ideals. It was right then and there that it occured to me how much of a sham the Green Party has become and how non-realistic the members of the Green Party seem to be, if they are so dyed-in-wool to put the Party’s future over the future of the United States of America and the world in whole.
For 3 years I’ve dealt with the “Looney Left” element that made up the local Green Party (those on the left that are in no way near the majority of Americans), I pitty the party’s future if that is the element that they are going to let control the course of the party. It used to be a valid alternative to the Democratic Party and is actually something that Democrats should actually bless and accept — that is, if they ever get the clue that both parties are on the same side.
I thought I was doing something good by trying to help the Green Party along, but now they have become irrelevant in their own rubber spined stubbornness that the principled idealism is the only way to be. The truly cowardly faction happens to be the ones that believe the political ideal is the only acceptable course. becasue any other ideal would be an unknown path.
